Deacon Will Marrero was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the older of two boys. He received a B.A. degree in mathematics and computer science from Columbia University. He continued his studies in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where he met his wife, Anne. After completing his Ph.D., Deacon Will joined the faculty in the School of Computing at DePaul University in Chicago where he continues to work today. He and Anne lived in Evanston for one year before moving to Naperville and joining Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, where they have been ever since. They have four children, two in college, one in high school, and one who will be confirmed in the spring. All six Marreros love the outdoors, and one of their fondest memories is the three weeks they spent one summer sleeping in a 10 by 12 tent and visiting various national parks out west. What is your favorite part of the job? The favorite part of my job at DePaul is helping and guiding students as they navigate some pretty complicated topics and prepare for their future. The part I enjoy the most about what I do at the parish is talking to people about the faith. Whether it is children in religious education, adults in O.C.I.A., couples preparing for matrimony, families at baptisms, or residents in senior living communities, I find joy in being able to share the faith that I have received, and in hearing the faith stories of those I meet.
