Mission Speakers

The Fathers of Mercy is a Roman Catholic Congregation of Priests. Their primary Apostolate is to preach parish missions and retreats, with an emphasis on the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Confession. The Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy were founded in 1808 under the title of “The Missionaries of France.” The order was founded for the purpose of evangelizing the French people after the Catholic Faith had been subjected to years of attacks and persecution during the French Revolution. After the suppression of the order by a new revolutionary regime some three decades later, many of the priests of the community came to America, and the Fathers of Mercy eventually became an American order.

Our speakers for the Mission:

Fr.-Bill-Casey1-e1447987991417-200x200Fr. Bill Casey was born on November 3rd, 1955, and is a native of Philadelphia, P A. He is a 1979 graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia. After graduating from college, Father Casey served as an officer in the U.S. Army, and gave up his military career in order to study for the priesthood. Upon completion of his military service, Father entered the Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy, and has been a member of the community since 1986. He is a graduate of Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell,Connecticut.

Father Casey attributes his call to the priesthood to the Divine Mercy, his love for the study of Sacred Scripture, and his strong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. During the Mission he will challenge the parish community to make a stronger, deeper personal commitment to Christ and His Church. Among the topics he will present during the Mission are the reality of personal sin and the need for sincere conversion and repentance; the biblical and historical foundations of the Mass and the Holy Eucharist; the Blessed Virgin Mary; the power of prayer; the Ten Commandments and the theology of Christian love and morality, and the foundations of the Catholic Church.

Father Casey served as Superior General of his Congregation from 1997 to 2009. He has worked extensively with Saint Joseph Communications since 1995, and has appeared on Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) since 1999.

FrJohnBrushard-200x200Fr. John Broussard, CPM grew up in Houston, TX with his brother and four sisters and is a graduate of Seton Home Study. After a year of college and discernment, Fr. Broussard entered the Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy in 2006 and began his formation as a postulant and Novice. Fr. Broussard professed temporary vows in 2007 and began studies in Philosophy and Theology at Holy Apostles College and Seminary.

Fr. Broussard professed perpetual vows in 2010 and graduated from college in 2011 with a degree in Thomistic Philosophy from Holy Apostles. He then continued his studies at Holy Apostles and graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 2014. Fr. Broussard was then ordained a priest in June of that same year.

Fr. Broussard attributes his calling to the priesthood and religious life to the prayers of his family and his devotion to Mary, The Mother of God. Currently Fr. Broussard is serving at the Shrine of our Lady of Good Help in Champion, WI as Chaplain to the many pilgrims that frequent the Shrine.
