The Liturgy Commission has set the following policies for setting a wedding date at SSPP:

• Either the bride or groom themselves, or either set of parents, must be registered parishioners for a minimum of three months before we will check the calendar for a wedding date for you.

• Additionally, the Diocese requires a 6 month period for marriage preparation (6 months from the time you call the Parish Office and book the date to the actual wedding day). To clarify, if you are newly registered here, there will be a 9 month period before your wedding can take place.

• Stipends for weddings are as follows:

  • Registered active parishioners of one year or longer - $200.00

  • New parishioners (registered less than one year at the time the wedding is booked) - $450.00

  • Inactive parishioners (non-contributing at the time the wedding is booked) - $450.00

  • Note: Fees for parish musicians are not included in the above offering amounts.

• Couples must be engaged prior to setting a wedding date. A date will not be scheduled if marriage is only a possibility.

• Please be aware, that when a Catholic is marrying a non-Catholic, your marriage will be celebrated with a ceremony that does not include the reception of Holy Communion. In these cases, our Deacon may be assigned to prepare you for marriage and to celebrate your wedding ceremony.

• A wedding may not be scheduled if either party has been previously married without first speaking to one of the priests. The secretary will ask this question when taking the initial information.

• Weddings are scheduled here on Fridays at 4:00 PM and on Saturdays at noon and 2:30 PM. Rehearsals for Friday weddings are at 6:30 PM on the Thursday before; rehearsals for Saturday noon weddings are at 6:00 PM on the Friday before; and rehearsals for Saturday 2:30 PM weddings are at 7:00 PM on the Friday before. Wedding and rehearsal times are not negotiable.

• We begin scheduling 2009 wedding dates on January 2, 2008.
