Protecting God's Children

 

Protecting God's Children, developed by the Virtus organization, is a program the Diocese of Joliet has adopted, along with 50 other dioceses, in order to offer a comprehensive sexual abuse prevention and education program to all diocesan and parish employees, an also to all volunteers who work with children. All parish and diocesan employees, including clergy, are required to complete this course and submit to a background check as a term of employment. Volunteers over the age of 18, who work with children on a continuing basis must also fulfill the same requirements. Attendance allows participants to be both aware of the problem and to understand the plan the diocese has to prevent child sexual abuse. 

2010-2011 SS Peter & Paul "Protecting God's Children" Session dates are: Thursday, August 19, 2010 Tuesday, September 28, 2010 Both Sessions are held in the Ministry Center Social Hall and begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Note: You must register online with Virtus and remain for the entire length of the program. Please arrive on time. No one will be admitted once the program has started.

Note: Both policies must be read and the Acknowledgement Form below must be signed and returned.

• Acknowledgement Form for Clergy, Employees, Volunteers & Parents - must read Diocesan Policies above, print and sign this form, and return it to the Religious Education Office.
