SS. Peter and Paul offers a Baptism Preparation Class for parents on either the
1st OR 2nd Monday of each month beginning at 7:30 PM in the St. Paul
Center Building. If this is your first child, you MUST
attend a class before receiving a date for your baby’s baptism.
(Both mom and dad are asked to attend. Godparents are also
encouraged to attend.) Please sign up for the class by calling the
Parish Office, 630-355-1081. (Your family should be registered with
the parish in order to to have your child baptized.) If you have attended
a class within the last 10 years (at any parish) you need not
re-attend. Simply call the office to schedule
your baby’s baptism.
Generally, we baptize at SSPP each Sunday of the month, (except the
2nd Sunday), at 2 PM. We also schedule baptisms on the 2nd Sunday
of each month during the 11:00 AM Mass in the Chapel or the 12:30
PM Church Mass. (The only exception is if a special Mass or
event is scheduled by the parish.) Because
baptism is meant to be a celebration of the community, we DO NOT
schedule private baptisms. Also, we make every effort to limit
the number of children baptized at our group ceremony to six and at
Mass to two. Please check with the Parish Office to make certain
the date you want is available before making plans with your
family. The offering to the church for a Baptism is $20.00. Couples
may pay when they attend the Baptismal Preparation class or they can
send the offering to the Parish Office.
Required paperwork MUST be submitted to the parish office no
later than ten (10) business days prior to the baptismal date or
your date will be rescheduled. This includes all necessary
information regarding family records and godparents. Please read
the baptism
planning information provided before selecting a godparent.
A sponsor certificate must be provided by each godparent who
belongs to a different parish. The proper
sponsor certificate for
SSPP will be distributed at our preparation classes (or downloaded
above). Christian witnesses are most welcome to celebrate with the
family and community, but please note they are not recorded as
sponsors on the Baptismal Certificate or in the Baptismal Register.
