Pastoral Care

Pastoral care derives it’s name and nature from the meaning of shepherd and suggests the work of the shepherd with the flock.

The ministry of pastoral care is a compassionate presence in imitation of Jesus’ care of people.

Pastoral Care affirms the act of mercy directed by Christ to care for the sick, comfort the dying, and to be a beacon of encouragement, love, and support to the Parishioners of Sts. Peter and Paul.  It is a way to connect those in need with our Priests, Deacons and Pastoral Ministries.

Because of the Right to Privacy laws, Sts. Peter and Paul is not notified of parishioners who are hospitalized, homebound, or have entered a health care facility. We must hear from the parishioner, family member, or friend if they would like to be visited by a member of the pastoral care team.

If you know of someone who is in need of emotional/spiritual support or would like to receive Holy Communion or Anointing of the Sick, please contact Paulette at (630) 718-2127.

The Center for Family Ministry recognizes how difficult it is for families that have experienced a painful transition such as divorce or death of a spouse.  One of the things that we do at The Center for Family Ministry is offer and promote programs to assist families as they experience the sorrowful times of their lives.  On that note, we would like to inform you about an upcoming event that you may wish to attend.

On Saturday, March 20, 2010, The Center for Family Ministry is sponsoring a conference entitled, Risking Faith, Achieving Joy.  The day, exclusively for the divorced and widowed and those who care about them, features Father Tony Palazzolo.

Father Tony is a consultant for the Family Life Office of the Diocese of St. Augustine in Florida, where he presents workshops and seminars on parenting, divorce adjustment, faith, relationships and other related subjects.  In 2008, he was awarded the James J. Young award by the Catholic Divorced Ministry for his many years of dedicated service to this ministry.

The day will also include reflection, prayer, discussion, and some time for relaxation, and will end with a 4 p.m. Vigil Mass, celebrated by Bishop Imesch.   The requested $35.00 donation includes morning coffee, lunch, and materials.  You may register by calling The Center for Family Ministry (815-838-5334).  All faiths are welcome to come.
