Elizabeth
Ministry
is an outreach by our parish community to women during the childbearing
years. The purpose of this ministry is to affirm, support, encourage and
assist women and their families by providing a direct response to their
specific needs. An Elizabeth Minister offers a link between the broader
church community and the families of our parish.
The different areas of involvement are: pregnancy
support, celebration of birth, infant/child crisis, adoption, miscarriage
infant/child loss, waiting to conceive - infertility, and grandparent support.
An Elizabeth Ministry Visit:
Picture yourself...
-
Pregnant
with your first child, and a newcomer to your town. Wouldn’t you
like to be visited by someone who is excited and interested in your
pregnancy?
-
Just
having given birth to your first baby, proud and excited, but scared
too. Wouldn’t you like to be visited by an experienced mom?
-
Pregnant
with your fifth child. Wouldn’t you like to be visited by someone
who congratulates you on your pregnancy instead of acting shocked?
-
Anxiously
in the midst of the adoption process. Wouldn’t you like to be
visited by a person who has gone through the adoption process too?
-
Sad,
having lost your baby to a miscarriage. Wouldn’t it be nice to visit
with someone who understands what you are going through?

TThese are all situations where a visit
from an Elizabeth Minister may be just what the person needs. Elizabeth
Ministers are ordinary people sent from our parish to visit with women as
they experience the joys and sorrows that come during the childbearing
years.
Elizabeth
Ministry
doesn’t take a large time commitment or a lot of training. Women bring
their own gifts and experiences to the ministry.
